Danial Barrett

Trainee Solicitor

My career began in the British Army, where I joined 1st Battalion, The Royal Welsh in 2015. During my service, I had the opportunity to travel extensively, from the heat of Africa to the Baltic region of Estonia. I specialised as an Anti-Tank Operator and obtained my Category H driving licence, allowing me to operate and drive infantry fighting vehicles. My time in the Army developed my discipline, resilience and ability to remain calm and focused in challenging situations — qualities which continue to shape my approach to my legal career.

Following the end of being a regular solider, I enrolled at Bangor University in September 2021 to study law, graduating in the summer of 2024 with First Class Honours whilst also working for the North Wales Law Clinic dealing with Family Matters. My time at University further developed my analytical, research and communication skills and confirmed my ambition to pursue a career in the legal profession.

After graduating, I joined a law firm where I gained valuable practical experience in both Conveyancing and Personal Injury. Working directly with clients and handling a broad range of matters that gave me valuable insight into legal practice and strengthened my desire to progress further within the profession.

I subsequently joined Edward Hughes Solicitors in 2026 as a Trainee Solicitor in the Civil Disputes Department. I enjoy the challenges that come with dispute resolution and the opportunity to assist clients with often complex and important legal matters. I bring the discipline, determination and teamwork developed through my military service, combined with my academic knowledge and practical legal experience.

Outside of work, I remain actively involved in the British Army as a Reserve Soldier with 3rd Battalion, The Royal Welsh. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, particularly exploring the countryside, as well as travelling and experiencing new places. My interests outside of work allow me to maintain a good balance and continue my passion for adventure and the outdoors.
